RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

EXPLORE THE COURSE

What is RPL and what’s the benefit of completing a course or qualification utilising this process?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment only process that captures and recognises an individual’s existing knowledge base, skill-set, and experience in alignment to the specific competency requirements within a qualification.

This process allows individuals to gain formal qualifications without having to undergo traditional training for the skills and knowledge they have already acquired through previous education, employment background and history, on the job training and more.

Who is eligible for RPL?

RPL is available to everyone! In order to achieve competency via RPL, a student is required to demonstrate they have acquired the relevant skills and knowledge within the criteria set out in each unit of competency prior to enrolment.

In the event the don’t quite meet the full performance criteria, foundation skills and / or evidence requirements, gap training is offered in order to fulfill the necessary gaps or further training and assessment in the unit of competency may be directed.

How do I achieve competency in my course or qualification under this assessment method? How does it work?

RPL is achieved through our comprehensive yet streamlined assessment process where the individuals experience, skills, proficiencies and knowledge relative to the course or qualification is captured through competency based conversations and questions conducted by the allocated Trainer & Assessor.

Competency is further substantiated through the supply of suggested evidence, a self evaluation and third party reference verifications. Suitable referees are required to verify the individuals experience over a period of time and that the documented evidence supplied to support their experience aligns. All Third Party Referees must hold the equivalent qualification and / or unit(s) of competency as the student; or hold a State Regulatory Body licence in the licence class of students course.

In order for Academia to verify the students overall competency, they map all documented evidence supplied, the student’s self evaluation and work history responses and the Third Party(s) verification against the performance and knowledge criteria within each unit of competency of the course or qualification to therefore grant an outcome of competency achieved.

To ensure all student are aware of the evidence requirements prior to committing to their enrolment, they are provided a copy of the course or qualification’ Student Evidence Guide within their enrolment pack email to provide further details in relation to what the expectations are, what they may need to supply and to revise ahead of enrolment to ensure they can achieve the evidence requirements necessary to substantiate their claim for RPL.
